(2008-10-02) BEN GEREN - TRAIL UPDATE

We need some help from everyone out there who uses the Ben Geren trail system in Fort Smith.

We would love it if some of you could spend some time with us doing some routine trail cleanup and maintenance on October 18th at 8:30 a.m. Let's meet at paved parking lot at the start of Ben Geren paved trail.

Bob and Ken will have a few extra tools, but if you have your own, bring loppers, shovels, handsaws, and weed eaters. We’ll be performing general weeding and trimming of the trail, plus working on low lying wet areas, making it ready for the new season.

If you use the bike trails and can’t make it out for the scheduled work trips, then please go out on your own to help keep the growth trimmed back.

If there are questions call Bob at 431-8951

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

(2008-10-02) SPRINGHILL PARK  - TRAIL UPDATE

Ken Cox has also sent us an update on the condition of the Springhill Trail out in Barling AR.

Ken indicates that the Springhill Trail system is about 75% back open and has been cleared of all debris. The bridges are back in place and trail work is continuing as the weather cools. Ken informs us that the best thing for the trail right now is to get a lot of people out there to ride on it. This will help the trail recover even faster.

(2008-07-02) SPRINGHILL PARK PREPARATIONS

With just a few weeks to go before the great Springhill Park Mountain Bike race on August 3rd 2008, we are seeking some volunteers to help us out with getting the course ready for the event.

We are looking for as much help as we can get!!! Ken Cox and Bob Robison are planning a trail maintenance day this Sat (7/5/2008) at 7:00 am at SpringHill park. The upper trail has gotten grown up and needs some work. Bring weed eaters, limb trimmers, and lots of tick/mosquito spray to the pavilion at 7:00 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Any help will be appreciated.

MERCY MOUNTAIN BIKE JERSEY ORDERS

The new Mercy MTB club wants to get an order in for the new 2008 MTB Team Jerseys as soon as possible. The jerseys are very similar to the BLUE Mercy Road Jerseys, except they are RED! Michael and Ken are finalizing a MTB specific cycling logo. Also, the jerseys will be "club fit" which is more comfortable, especially for MTB.
2008 Mercy Cycling Development Jersey

Mercy will sell these jerseys at cost - Estimated at $45-$55, depending on set-up/ freight charges. Anyone interested in ordering a jersey or two or three, please email CARL NORRIS with your JERSEY SIZE and QUANTITY that you require. Carl will then compile an order list for sending to the manufacturer. We will order very few extra Jerseys so if you want one or two, please order them now. This will probably be your only chance to get one of these limited edition jerseys this year !!!

Carl will be placing this once-off order by end of next week - March 7th 2008.

Email Carl Norris ASAP with your SIZE and QUANTITY required. His email address is :
